Superintendent’s Perspective: July 24, 2006

Dear Staff/Parents/Community of Larkspur School District:

Planning for Next Year

Please follow this link to find a letter from Larkspur Mayor Larry Chu regarding traffic congestion in Larkspur and supporting car pooling and alternative methods of transporting your children to school. As you all are aware, traffic is a huge problem and one that can be improved if we all work together. I am currently collaborating with the Marin County Transit District, City of Larkspur, Town of Corte Madera, County Office of Education, Tam High School District and the Safe Routes to School organization to develop possible solutions to this issue, including better marketing, crosswalks, school transportation routes, and school bell schedules.

Please take time over the summer to thoughtfully consider how your family might contribute to reducing traffic congestion in the fall. There are several methods by which students can travel to school including carpools, walking, biking, skating and public transportation. If I can be of any assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to call or check the website (www.larkspurschools.org) for information regarding bus schedules, the new transit shuttle, and Safe Routes to School meetings.

Congratulations to all students on their successful completion of the school year!

Have a healthy summer and travel safely!

Valerie Pitts, Superintendent
