District Strategic Priorities

District Goals for 2000–2002

**Please note that new goals for 2002-2004 were adopted by the Board at the meeting on Feb. 28, 2002.

The Larkspur School District believes an extraordinary education can be achieved through the strength of a partnership between parents, school staff, students and our community. The path to our shared goals will be supported by effective communication and interaction. Our 2000-2002 goals are:

  • We will recruit and retain high-quality teachers, classified and administrative staff.
  • We will enhance core and non-core programs.
  • We will develop quality facilities that are appropriate for district programs.
  • We will reconcile our district outcomes with state standards.
  • We will increase technology usage for curriculum integration and administrative efficiency.

Operational Objectives for 2000–2002
(Board adopted March 23, 2000)

Goal 1: We will recruit and retain high-quality teachers, classified and administrative staff.

  1. Identify the satisfiers, and dissatisfiers for employees of the district.
  2. Review the salary schedules to determine ways to attract a greater pool of candidates.
  3. Explore the impact of offering credit for additional years of experience on the salary schedules to attract more experienced employees.
  4. Increase the number of benefited positions of classified staff by combining jobs that are currently part-time positions.
  5. Investigate affordable housing opportunities for employees.

Goal 2: We will enhance core and non-core programs.

  1. Expand curriculum integration between core subjects and the arts through
    1. Staff development in the areas of dance and drama
    2. Expansion of consultant artists in the classroom, such as the Youth in Arts Program
  2. Expand the number of before and after-school programs through Larkspur and/or Corte Madera Parks and Recreation.
  3. Purchase supplemental consumable products for science programs.

Goal 3: We will develop quality facilities that are appropriate for district programs.

  1. Complete Facilities Master Plan for the District
  2. Identify resources to implement the Master Plan
  3. Identify and implement measure to address current pressure points at Neil Cummins
  4. Design improvements to campus based on approved educational specifications and the Master Plan, including facilities that support science instruction in a laboratory setting at the middle school level.
  5. Improve the lunch-time equipment (benches) and facilities for students.

Goal 4: We will reconcile our district outcomes with state standards.

  1. Purchase supplementary material aligned with standards
  2. Identify a district-wide spelling program
  3. Adopt District math standards at grades K-8
  4. Adopt District history standards at grades 6-8, articulating with grade 5

Goal 5: We will increase technology usage for curriculum integration and administrative efficiency.

  1. Implement a district tech plan, with priority purchases including a teacher workstation in every classroom, internet access in all classrooms.
  2. Implement the staff development component of the technology plan.
  3. Increase access to computers before and after school for students.
